Jogini waterfall ,Manali
There are some pockets of nature that leave you spell bounded. They cast a spell and you fail to snap out of it for many days. The trek to Jogini waterfall, is approximately a 3km trek from Vashisht temple . Vashihkt temple is approx 2kms from main market of Manali and can be reached in 15 minutes by vehicle . Waterfall is 1.5 kms by trek from here . The trek route passes the narrow lane by the side of Vashihkt Temple and passes through the apple orchids , tall pine trees and small water streams.
The trek starts with some easy steps going through a small village with rooms on either side. One can find hidden tattoo houses and yoga centres. One can easily find red arrow marks on billboards directing towards the waterfall. After few steps , the houses vanish and there is alpine forest on one side and Beas river flowing with backdrop of hills on the other. You can also notice zip lining spots here.
A gentle walk will take 40 minutes to reach the base of the waterfall . While walking towards the waterfall you can also notice Beas river and snow covered peaks of Rohtang at your left side. The views of the Himalayas are breathtaking and force you to stop and gasp at them. The fresh mountain air casts a spell on your mind and soul and tempts you to stay back and forget the world you came from.
Soon after 2-3 cafes you can hear the roar of the waterfall and you can sense that you are nearing. Once you get the glimpse of the waterfall, you can see a small temple beneath. To reach the top of waterfall there is a stiff climb , which would take 20-30mins . If you don’t want to climb up then towards right through narrow path , one can reach the base of the waterfall . There you find a small pool formed by falling water .
On the whole I strongly recommend this trek for people looking for respite from the nonsensical crowds in Manali and wanting to take a break in the lap of nature. The trek does not take more than two hours. But it sure did leave me refreshed to the soul and gifted me a bountiful of memories I will cherish for life.If you go on June highly recommend to take sunscreen, bcoz it sunshine their. The trek is a bit long and tricky but worth it!!!
